Apply now. Owning a business offers a path to both personal and community well-being. Studies show entrepreneurs experience higher job satisfaction and potentially earn 8.1% more than salaried workers. Businesses themselves are the lifeblood of communities, employing millions generating tax revenue for vital services, and strengthening the social fabric through local events and charitable support.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), roughly 20% of new businesses fail within the first two years, 45% during the first five years, and around 65% within the first ten years. The top three reasons businesses fail are poor business planning, inefficient marketing and sales, and a lack of capital.

Dream for Success is teaming up with District 8 Council Member Edward Burroughs III and other partners to launch the PG County District 8 Entrepreneurship Academy to empower young adults facing socio-economic challenges by providing practical business planning skills, mentorship and networking opportunities with business owners in District 8, and financial resources to pursue entrepreneurial ventures.
